Wedding Suppliers Part 2 (12.5.12)

As I promised, here's our wedding suppliers part 2!

Gretchen Enriquez (Pre-nup photoshoot HMUA) 5***** – Gretchen is a sister of my friend’s boyfriend.  Ever since worry ko talaga ang pag me-make up, sobrang bihira as in lang ako matuwa sa pagkaka make-up sakin. Minsan kasi feeling ko I looked matanda or bakla. I’m not really a make-up person, feeling ko mas okay sakin yung fresh lang. :D She did two peg, yung isa pang sweet na vintage ang dating and yung isa is yung ala Manilyn Monroe sana pero di ko na-achieve. Haha! No, nakuha nya yung gusto kong make-up. I feel so beautiful and regal. :D She’s easy to work with, walang arte at aalagaan ka nya, panay pa ang paypay nya sakin and she even took photos habang nag shoot kami with Osep and MiMi para daw may behind the scenes. She’s really good.

Contact Live Photography Clip Photobooth  (Photo Booth) 4****
Martin and I discovered CLP during one of the wedding fair. I love the quality of their photo. I love the layout,  I gave them sample peg nakuha naman nila yung gusto ko. Hindi ko masyadong masabi if super okay sila during our wedding since once lang namin sila na-visit sa sobrang pagka busy. And infairness, medyo late na ng nakapag pa photobooth kami tinawag lang nila kami and they waited for us kasi nga their time is up. They extended couple of minutes din ata. I love how the photos turned out. But I gave them 4 lang, because sa contract, we availed the ref magnet na klase 4R size. But we ended up getting the simple one yung paper lang nakalagay. Then maybe, as a bonus, they gave us additional Save the date ref magnets which hindi naman sya masyadong malaking bagay for us kasi we booked them medyo malapit narin ang wedding we don't need it na kaya hindi kami nag avail. Then nakita ko nalang some, or yung primary sponsors meron na silang ref magnet na save the date. Hindi naman yun ang nasa contract and in-avail namin. But the photo quality is good. :)

JCA Vintage Car Rental (bridal car) 5*****
I love our bridal car! Pinaglaban ko talaga to kay Martin. His cousin daw nung wedding nila, ito rin daw ang ginamit na car, so ayaw  nya ng same. Eh I told him na ours is different and this is my dream wedding car. So pinagbigyan nya parin ako. We visited their house and andon lahat ng vintage car na for rental. I was, I mean, we were amazed! Pinaandar pa nga nung guy na may ari yung ibang options namin. Sobrang bait nung mag-asawa, very accommodating and down to earth Meron isang sikat na rental ng vintage car, sakanila daw galing yun kasi nephew ata nila yun and he asked them if pwede nya parentahan, of course mas mahal ng konti kasi may dagdag sya. Sakanya kami una nag inquire, but nalang nahanap namin ang tunay na may-ari. This car costs 12k-13k dun sa isa, then nakuha lang namin sakanila ito ng 10k for 3 hours and 2k for succeeding hours. Sa sobrang traffic and natagalan kami sa photo ops, we ended up paying 14k. Pero okay lang super sulit. And the driver sobrang bait nya, he helped me paano mabawasan ang kaba. Pinasigaw pa nga nya ako eh. Super worth it!

Sugar Artist (wedding cake) 4.5****
Hindi ako ang nakipag usap sakanila, kasi our wedding cake was a gift from Martin's Aunt. Friend nya angmay ari.  I don't know din how much this one cost. Maganda sya pero siguro lang I expected more since marami syang ginagawang cakes even sa mga artistas. Pero all in all, nagustuhan ko sya. :)

How do you discipline your child?

Last July 19, I attended a what we call crash session of Positive Discipline Orientation on parenting with the Nawies. A Nawies is a private family support group. Nag start sya sa weddings at work where bride and grooms to be, help each other prepare for their dream wedding. Thanks to Ms. Benz and Sir Abet who started this community.

It was called crash session kasi this should be a 4 days orientation, but one day lang namin sya. It was held at Max Restaurant in Greenhills. I was kind of hesitant at first kasi feeling ko too early pa for me since Kirsten just turned 2 years old last May 9, 2012. But thanks and I pushed through.

Because there is what they called, Building Blocks of Healthy Development na magstart sa Infancy. So this early palang, kaylangan ng ma-develop ang child's Trust and Attachment.

Our speaker for that day is Ms. Wilma Banaga from Save the Children. They are doing this for free.

So what is Positive Discipline ba?

What is a Corporal Punishment?

The first country that prohibited corporal punishment is Sweden nung 1979. And now, 38 countries had implemented this. Nung 23 countries palang daw, Philippines started to pass the bill na, lagi daw na a-approved sa congress but hindi sa senate. Ngayon, meron ulit pinasa on going na. Let's See. :-)

Before, I thought corporal punishment is Disciplining your child physically lang. But no, corporal punishment is also verbally and emotionally. Like shouting, saying hurtful words, things that will hurt them, not only yung physically hurting them. And even the "stand in the corner" strategy pala is also a kind of corporal punishment. Some of us thought that this will make them realize their mistake, but little did we know they are thinking of revenge and resentment.

So what our children feels and think whenever we do corporal punishment?

And more likely,

And learn,

Isn't its scary?

Paano ba ang Positive Discipline. It is to provide calmness, structure and WARMTH.

In providing warmth, we are teaching our children long term values.

One of our activity was to list down what do we want to teach to our children . Their personalities, values and character when they grow up. Do we want them to be Confident? Respectful? Loving? Selfless? God fearing loving? This is a long term values. Start teaching them these values as early as infancy by providing warmth.

So how can we do that?

We were grouped into 3 and each group was given a case.
For our group:

"You have an appointment with the doctor, it's raining and you told your two year old child to wear his coat. He refuses to wear it. It's running late and you need to hurry."

So this is our group's answers.
Discaimer: This is just how far as I can remember.
  • Problem: We'll be late to our doctor's appointment
  • Why He/she behave this way:
    • He doesn't like the coat
    • He was interrupted with what he is doing
    • He is still not feeling well
  • Long term goals:
    • Be a confident person
    • Eliminate the fear of seeing a doctor
    • Obey
  • How to provide warmth and structure.
    • Ask him why? Ask him if he doesn't like the coat? He can chose the coat that he want.
    • Tell him that we have to see the doctor so that he'll get better. And after that he can continue in what he is doing
    • He can bring his toys/art materials if that what he is doing
    • Show the clock and try to tell him "If this arrow is in number 6, we have to go" (This will also develop his sense of time.
As you can see, there are lots of possible problems and answer because at this age, he still can't express/say how he feels, so 2 years old mostly do is to throw tantrums. Because that's how they react in certain situations that they can't even explain. They can't say that I'm feeling sick, I'm lazy, I'm hungry. With infants, their way of communication is with their crying. Kaya don't get upset easily, try to figure out first bakit ganoon, because there is ALWAYS a reason.

And when you say "NO", don't tell your child "just because I said so". Explain to him why, the cause and effect.

\
During our orientation, somebody asked pala, what if nasa adolescent stage na sila? Ms. Wilma said, just go back sa period of building Trust and Attachment.

We have this activity rin na we have to stand in the direction which feeling namin is ganon ang anak namin. And next, ganoon kami.

With distractibility, I stood in the middle. Kasi I can focus for a long time naman, depende. Like right now, I am sitting infront of my laptop for 6 hours now. Sometimes naman, madali ako ma-distract, minsan hindi ko natatapos yung ginagawa ko. Babalikan ko nalang ulit kapag sinipag na ulit ako or kailangan na.

I think with this, medyo same kami ni Kirsten, minsan din hindi mo yun magugulo.

Here, si Kirsten yung type na loses interest in activities quickly, siguro at her age, masyado pang mataas yung curiosity and ang pag explore ng things.

With intensity, hay naku! Dun ako sa shows intense sadness, anger and happiness. Sabi nila, aquarius daw ako kaya moody and may topak. Haha! Pag irritated, hay naku konting bagay lang naiinis ako kagad and my husband napapansin na yung eyes ko daw umiirap.

Same kami ni kirsten, kanina we're on our way to St. Lukes with my MIL, mula sa bahay hanggang makabalik kami ng house, nakabusangot muka, and when we asked her if she wants to eat at Jollibee, she said "NO!" which normally kapag jollibee and pinag uusapan at nakita nya, she screams na and naalala nya yung birthday nya na we celebrated sa Jollibee. When she's happy, super hyper.

These traits/character daw ay namamana. So reflect if kanino namana ng bata yon. :-)

Practicing Positive Discipline is not easy lalo na kung inis na inis kana and gusto mo ng tirisin. Sugat na ata lips ko everytime I bite my lips whenever nangigigil ako sa kulit ng anak ko. Kirsten is nuknukan ng kulit. Mahirap pagsabihan, one time her yaya told me "Ate bakit ganon si kirsten, kapag hindi nakukuha yung gusto nananakit.." Natakot ako, I don't want kirsten to grow up a brat and hurting people. So I opened this and asked Ms. Wilma. Repetition lang daw. Repetition is the key. Everytime she hits her yaya or me, or kung sino, tell her not to do that because that is not right. One of the attendees suggests na when she's about to hit one of us, himasin daw hands /arms nya and tell her "gentle baby.. gentle"..

Our session started with an activity to which we where asked,

What it feels like to be a parent?

Happy, Exhausting, Tiring, Blessed, Wonderful, Amazing, LOVE, Depressing, Scary, Frightening..........etc.

Ms. Wilma said, whenever we feel so upset or exhausted, or any not so good feeling of being a parent, always remember the good ones. The LOVE, the joyful feeling, the happiness, and we are blessed that we became a parent of this wonderful child.

How about you? What it feels like to be a parent?

They have a book for Positive Discipline for everyday parenting and Positive Discipline for Teachers/Educators. But from Canada pa yon and pricey ata. They have free e-book naman. Let me know if you wanted a copy of this book. You may leave your e-mail address below and I'll send it to you. :-)

Let's practice POSITIVE DISCIPLINE!!

Boyz II Men Concert 2014 in Manila!!

If you only have one chance to watch a Live Concert, what will it be?

I'm on my way to the bank when I saw this!!!

And OW EM GEEE!!!! My heart is beating fast!!! Napa nganga ako!! Boyz II Men is my super favorite talaga! As in!! If I'm going to list down my favorite band/singer mapa local o international, surely, sila ang Number 1! I'm going to tell you a secret. I haven't watched any Live Concert throughout my existence! I watched 2 school concert, one from Adamson, one from UST.

Better yet, watch it nalang sa TV. Praktikal kasi akong tao. Bukod don, wala akong budget for that. Gusto ko kasi VIP kung manonood man ako. Char!!

Pero syempre pangarap ko rin mapanood sila Brian Mcknight, Jason Mraz, Michael Buble, mga 90's Boy Bands, Maroon 5 at marami pang iba.

But If I only have one chance to watch a concert, ito yon!! Boyz II Men yon!!

I'm dying to watch them!!! This could be the last. Maybe. We can never tell. And masabi ko man lang na sa buong buhay ko naranasan ko manood ng concert!

Here's the ticket prices.

So here. 2 months nalang. Let's see!! Pero Please! :D

How about You? :D

Morning bloopers! :D

Sorry ha. But this made my day!! :D

Kirsten is watching peppa pig.

Then our househelp went to her and said...

"What's that baby? No more "Mother GHOST" na??"

OMG!!!! Natakot ako. Hahaha!! :D

Goodmorning!!!! :D

I feel good today. I can feel it. Better days are coming. But I need more motivation and FOCUS!!

I'm so excited!

Help me Lord God! ;)

Our Engagement Photo Shoot: A travel back in time

I love how our engagement photo shoot turned out. Thanks to OsepandMimi! Here are some of the photos. Cool!!

For my first dress, I just look for something that will match our theme from my closet. I found this vintage-y like dress that I bought from our Bangkok vacay last November 2011.

Look at the gate! Historic!

And the Vintage Bike

For my second dress, I just bought it in Walmart sa U.S. Pang summer ang dress na yan pero okay naman hindi naman super odd. :) You see how and why I really love the place? :)

For my third outfit, I rented it from I forgot where and whom. Basta I saw the ad from sulit and contacted them. Mabait and madali makausap ang my ari. And these are my favorite photos. I felt like I a superstar! :D

Ang gwapo ng asawa ko dito!

 My favorite photo!

COOOOLLLL!!!! :D

That's it! <3

Our wedding suppliers review and some photos Part 1!

Today is not our wedding anniversary. But I’ll be sharing with you our wedding suppliers. Looking back, I can say naman that we had the best if not the very best wedding suppliers in the Philippines. Although, some of them  or one of them, pinagsisihan ko ng slight. Our wedding turned out how I wanted it to be, yung dream wedding ko since I was young. Yes, nag i-imagine na ako kahit wala pa akong jowa on what will I’ll be wearing, the venue, the styling and all. Ang hirap lang kasi I wanted a beach wedding, gusto ko rin ng garden wedding, and of course, I really really would love to get married sa church.  If money is not an issue, bet ko gawin sa lahat, of course with the same man . Even my wedding dress, I wanted it to be like a princess gown, gusto ko rin ng pa-sexy, ng mermaid like, ng tube, ng long sleeves, ng backless, pati front less! Joke! Kidding aside, ang hirap ng maraming gusto.

I highly recommend pala joining weddings at work. Sobrang laki ng tulong sa akin nitong group na ito. Super helpful nila. It’s a group where soon to weds and even mga tapos na ang wedding help each other. Thanks to Ms. Benz and Sir Abet.

So here’s our wedding suppliers and reviews.
5 is the highest:

The Heirloom Manila (our pre-nuptial venue) 5*****
This is where we held our pre-nuptial photo shoot. The owners of the house are very accommodating.  We were only allowed to use the place for 3 hours. Sadly, we’re late! So they allowed us to extend for an hour with additional charge of course. They have air conditioned room where we can change outfit and have our make-up done.  The place is really nice. Swak na swak sa theme namin. Our wedding theme is Vintage. 60’s to 70’s. Mga ganong eksena.  Hindi kami nagkamali. I love love the place! I'll share some of our prenuptial photos in a different post.

Santuario de San Jose, Greenhills (church) 4****
Santuario de San Jose is our 3rd choice. The place is nice naman. I love the altar. Yung altar ang nagustuhan ko talaga. The church is not big. Sakto lang. Airconditioned kaya hindi ka mag ja-jabar. What I don’t like is their service. My groomsmen (my brother and cousin) were the one who opened the door for me. They asked us to pay additional charge for the microphone. We need two. For the priest and commentator. But we have to pay for it. Hindi ba kasali na ang microphone sa payment? And look at the chandeliers!! Lovely!

AltX Video (videographer) 5*****
From the very start of the wedding planning, AltX is our top choice.  We always watch their works. And super impressed na kami. They are still young but really good. Professional kahit tagaktak pawis na sila, go parin. They are the second earliest na dumating sa preparation. They are really good. I love how our video turned out. Galing!

OsepMimi (Photographer) 4.5****
We only met Mimi during our pre-nuptial shoot. Si Osep yung nakakausap namin. He is so bait and down to earth. Kahit humiga sya sa streets kiber basta maging maganda yung outcome nung shoot.  I love their works. Why not 5? Hindi super super ganon yung ine-expect ko na kuha from our wedding. Maganda ang kuha nila, but kulang siguro sa details and yung guests wala masyadong photos aside sa photos with us. More of kami. Gusto ko kasi makita lahat ng details and guests. I’m satisfied, but not super happy.

Manila Polo Club (reception) 5*****
Place is perfect! Also has garden outside where the guests stayed while waiting for us. They had their cocktails there. The place is perfect!!!

Manila Polo Club (In-house catering) 5*****
Though hindi naming natikman ni Martin lahat ng foods, our guests were all satisfied and happy. Overflowing ang foods and drinks and super dami pang nag take-out. J The set-up was also beautiful. Thanks to ED, the one who helped us to all our needs sa Polo Club. He is really good and patient. Actually, hindi mo na sya need bantayan or paalalahanan, he already knows what do do. And he even exceeded our expectation . I’m very happy.

Sensitivity (lights and sounds) 5*****
They said, you’ll get what you paid for. Sensitivity is quite over our budget for lights and sound but man! They also exceeded our expectation. The swags, the mood lights, Perfect! Ang dreamy ng dating. Ang ganda!

Boy Kastner Santos Couture - (Wedding Gown and My Mom's Gown) 4.5****
I booked Tito Boy 10 months before our wedding. He's sikat na. Pero ngayon super sikat na talaga sya. He's really a good designer. And masaya sya kausap, kalog, makulit. Kaya you'll never get bored talking with him. I have 2 changes sa gown ko, first, sabi ko nga, I want a vintage theme sa wedding, so he designed a gown that will match my theme. Pero hindi ko bet. So I told him na gusto ko is frou frou skirt na may slit, kaso I was thinking baka conservative ang guests ko. LOL! so I have it changed. Mauubos ata pasensya sakin ni tito boy but he still granted my request. He delivered one of my dream wedding gown. Princess like, frou frou and low ang back. Sabi ko nga babaan pa nya, kaso hindi na daw kaya. hahaha! :) I love my gown. Marami rin nagandahan, ang bigat lang. One thing na hindi ako masyado na-satisfy is the fitting. Hindi sya perfectly fit sa akin maluwag ang breast down to waist area. So walang shape, although wala akong shape talaga, haha! Mas worse. But everything is perfect naman. :)

I really love the back detail

Back detail of the gown that Tito Boy made for me during the reception. I Love it!
Reception

Ms. LeLet (second reception dress) 5*****
I met Lelet through my sister in law's friend. That's where my mother and sisters in law had their gown made. She lives and her shop is in Fairview super layo but worth the byahe. Medyo pricey rin sya compared to the other not so well known designers pero super ganda ng works nya. I love the reception dress that she made for me. I really do. And she's so easy to talk to. You can tell her anything and everything. :) I love it!

Print Society (Wedding Invitation) 4.5****
I also love our invitation. This is one of the details that we spend din talaga. They said kasi na you should make your invitation looks interesting that the guests would be thrilled and excited to attend your event. Kung baga this is the pambungad of what's in store. Marami rami lang changes and mahaba habang usapan and medyo nagka problema ng konti sa pricing. Medyo hindi nagkaintindihan kasi they didn't told us na kada changes may dagdag. :) But the invitation is really nice.

Ms. Pong Niu (HMUA Bride and Mother of the Bride) 5*****
If I have one regret sa suppliers ko, I have naman a supplier na kung ikakasal ulit ako, sya parin ang kukunin ko with open arms. They were the first ones na nakarating sa prep venue. Wala rin pala akong Trial make up, I just put my 101% trust on her. At hindi ako nagkamali. Sobrang feeling ko talaga nag transform ako and achieve na achieve ko ang level ng aura na bet ko for my wedding. She's quite expensive compared to other good and sikat na HMUA but she's really worth every cent! She's so mabait pa. She played and kinantahan pa nya baby ko before kami mag start. I love her team!!

That's it for now. Abangan ang Part 2! :)

Summer 2014: Pico De Loro

Before the summer ends, sinulit namin ang vacation with Martin's side of the family sa Pico De Loro. We spent 2 days and a night. There are lot of raves and reviews here. So we should try it to see and experience that Luxury. This is for members only. (I heard na it's open na daw for public but I'm not yet sure). You have to know someone who is a member of Pico. Good thing, a friend of a friend is a member. They own one of the condominiums in Pico. Staying in a condominium is way cheaper and practical than staying in a hotel which the last time I inquired (Peak Season) the room I chose for 4pax (2 adult, 2 kids) cost around 12,800 I think. For additional person, you have to pay additional fee that time its around like 2k and of course additional mattress for additional charge. Puro addition? :D But if your'e staying in the hotel, free charge for the use of pool and facilities which is 1k per head. 500 for Off Peak Season. We rented the condominium for 7k/night for 6 pax. (For us, 6 adult and 1 child). I didn't asked the owner of the condo if we can cook and bring food and wala naman nakaisip na it's okay since condo nga sya. You can bring foods and can cook pala, they have available utensils and kitchen wares na. Sayang. Ang laking tipid sana. So we ended up eating sa hotel which is expensive.
Upon registration pala, you were given a cash card which is amounted to 1k+ that you can reload and use for the foods and facilities. Before I forgot, they don't accept cash here! Everything is charged to you Credit Card! So Imagine how much we spent for the entire vacation. (Actually my mother in law was the one who paid for everything).

Pictures muna.

On our way to Pico de Loro

Country Club

We arrived late in the afternoon na, kaya we didn't enjoyed much the cove since pag 6pm pala everybody should be out of the water na. For Safety purposes. The cove is nice naman. The sand is gray and super fine. Sayang I didn't took photos of the whole place, they have resto by the cove, pero sabi for members only, maganda sya. Hindi ako nagka chance magkukukuha ng details ng bongga since I don't brought Kirsten's yaya with me and gusto nya lagi "Mommy Only" and ako kasi aligaga mag alaga sa anak ko, bukod don, she's not feeling well. She has cough and colds, her pedia prohibited her na mag swim. So super nakabantay ako baka bigla lumublob sa tubig, and it happened. Sobrang inis ako. Oh well. So on that night, she has fever. Ayan na nga. Ang hirap. I was awake the whole night, monitors and carry her all the time. She has fever, cough, and she can't breathe.
Hay. And kudos to Pico de Loro, they have 24/7 lifeline. Martin called the reception and asked if they have clinic where we can get medicine. After 30 minutes, 2 nurses went in our unit. They checked Kirsten's temperature and gave her medicine. And they said na if she has fever pa after  an hour, we'll call them again and they will be back at 6am (2am sila nagbigay ng med). So natuwa ako dun kasi may ganong help sila which is ang laki laking tulong talaga. They monitored and gave kirsten medicine every 4 hours.

Hindi rin kami nakapag swimming that night sa pool, of course, I have to take care of my baby. Gusto kasi nya "Mommy Only" (yan ang lagi sinasabi nya pag gusto nya ako gumawa ng mga bagay bagay at mag alaga sakanya". She cries every time I get lost of her sight. But the pool at night is nice. Maganda yung lightning effect nya. You have 2 free towels pala, 50 each for additional.

So next morning, nag ikot ikot nalang kami. We brought her bike. Picture picture para di sayang.

They have this shuttle ride.

The pool area.

The cove. Before she totally get sick.

My mother and sisters in law and kirsten.
For me, this is the best spot to take photos.

So if you're going to ask me how's my Pico de Loro vacay? *_*
Well, I would love to go back, the place is not too crowded, relaxing and beautiful. But please walang may sakit. And next time, we'll bring our own food. :)
